Beware of false prophets

Beware of false prophets-

Beware of false prophets, prophesying lies into your life. Essentially all that they are doing is fishing for information and releasing confusion into the atmosphere.

In 1kings 13: 1-25, we are presented the text of a man of God (an unnamed prophet) who was sent to speak a word to King Jeroboam. The king initially rejected the word , and as a result his hand shriveled up resulting in the king begging the prophet to pray for restoration of his hand. As an act of humility and gratitude the king asked the prophet to accompany him to his home to eat and receive a gift. The prophet refused and sons of an old prophet shared the miracle and the conversation that they encountered under the man of God. Notice what happens in verse 15, the old prophet goes to search for the prophet enticing him to go to his home to eat and in verse 17, the prophet declares the word he was directly given from God that “You must not eat bread or drink water there or return by the way you came.” But in verse 18, the old prophet declared that he had a word from the Lord.

Beware of those who say that they have a word from the Lord. 1 John 4:1 declares “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” You have to be able to hear the voice of the Lord for yourself. You cannot walk around with itching ears (2 Timothy 4:3), nor can you be tossed back and forth by unsound doctrine and deceitful people (Ephesians 4:14)/ As Christians we have the spirit of God, therefore we must use discernment when engaging with others. Don’t allow a door of deception to open for people to prophesy lies into your life’s. But prophesy into your own life, by reading the word of God for yourself. By having a prayer life with God to receive direction and guidance. Don’t be deceived in this hour but be prayed up that they enemy may not deceive you. Don’t be afraid to reject a false prophet. Cast it down immediately but closing the door
