Whats the true meaning of Christmas
What’s the true meaning of Christmas?
What does Christmas mean to you?
I think a lot of people have lost the true meaning of Christmas and exchanged it with a day to get all your favorite high priced gifts. Christmas is the day that we celebrate, “Christ.” Jesus Christ! But all to often we forget that, and only come to reflect on it, just before the clock strikes 12:00 am on the 26th of December.
But I charge you this day, as you celebrate with your family and friends eating and opening gifts to remember the true reason for this season. Jesus.
He watches over us, protects us, provides for us and most importantly he died and rose again for us.
Gifts are wonderful, be we can’t focus 100% on them, working overtime to buy gifts, stacking up piles of credit card debt or using all of our savings for Christmas. We must be wise. The whole point of Christmas is to celebrate Jesus. So as you are going about celebrating Christmas, don’t forget about him, for he is the reason for the season.
All to often we complain or contemplate on things that we want , need and would like to be improved in our lives. But I encourage you to be other people minded during this time. I like what Peter said in Acts 3:6, silver and gold, I have none but such as I have I give unto you. Jesus declared in Matthew
25:40, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.
Find someone, who has nothing at all, and be a blessing to them. If you don’t have money to contribute to buy anything, volunteer your time to feed the homeless, pray for someone, extend a kind word or smile. Your presence alone can make a difference in someone’s life. Lets not be self centered and focus on all the wrong things, but lets be other-people minded as well.
Make this Christmas a different one, by celebrating Jesus, your family and being a blessing to the less fortunate.
In John 6:11, Jesus took the loaves of bread and fish and gave thanks to God for it. As a result of him using his authority, that which once was a small fish and a piece of bread was multiplied and was able to feed 5,000 people.
All so often we complain or contemplate on the things that aren’t right and that could be improved in our lives, possibly leading up to depression or anger. But I want to encourage someone not to give up. You might not have all the money you need to buy all the luxious gifts for people. You might not have enough money to buy the high priced toys for your children. I like what Peter said in Acts 3:6, Silver and gold, I have none, but such as I have I give unto you.
